The Great Forgetting

In the course of our Earthly human history we have experienced eras of peace, harmony and equanimity. Considered golden ages, humans lived in right relationship with the. natural world, and looked to the stars and planets for guidance.

One such time period was the The Age of Taurus, approximately six thousand years ago. Primarily agrarian,  people lived off the land and honored the feminine principal as a source of life, creativity and wisdom. The ancient people worshipped female deities as an embodiment of fertility, the cycles of nature and and the rhythms of the natural world. The Great Mother was the Earth beneath their feet; a source of abundance and the nurturing power of the feminine. Men were the protectors of the feminine principal and seen as the embodiment of the vital powers of the Great Mother.

Over the course of time, and through force, the matriarchal Goddess worshipping cultures were supplanted by  patriarchal sky God cultures who worshipped male deities and enforced male superiority and authority. As more societies transitioned to male dominated systems, the role of women, along with the principles of the sacred feminine were suppressed or entirely erased.

Untethered from their connection to the Great Mother, the people entered an era of separation. They were no longer part of the natural world but ruled over it. Power, dominance, war and control were now the norm. Severed from source, they lost their way.

The Great Forgetting was born.

We see the evidence of this forgetting in our modern lives. Our Earth is in distress as we pillage her once abundant resources, poison her oceans and rivers, pollute her air and clear cut her forests. Our social fabric is in tatters; wars rage, poverty is on the rise, lives are torn apart by substance abuse, our culture is fractured by deep, idealogical religious and political divides as our systems of governing and leadership fail us.

We are a people out of balance and have forgotten how to live in right relation with our natural world. We suffer from a collective amnesia of the truth of our human and galactic history. The taproot of our connection to the Great Mother has been severed. We no longer look to the Stars as a source of guidance.

We have Forgotten Who We Are.

Indigenous peoples across the globe and throughout time have prophesied about this timeline in our human history. The Maya, for instance, prophesied this era as the Time of No Time, while the Hopi believe we are at the precipice of the end of the Fourth World. Hinduism speaks to this era as the end of the Kali Yuga cycle, an era marked by darkness and separation from the divine.

And astrologers, who track the trajectory of stars and planets through history to determine how they have influenced our human evolution in the past, have addressed how the turmoil we see in our world today was forecasted in the repeating patterns and cycles of the stars and planets in the cosmos.

In short, we are living in an era of tremendous transition and on the brink of a potential leap in human consciousness.

We are at a choice point:

Do we stay trapped in a polarised state or choose the path of unity?

Do we reaffirm the wisdom and power of the sacred feminine or continue to live under the destructive system of patriarchy?

Do we live with the illusion of separation or reclaim our birthright as co-creators with source?

Do we choose Love or Fear?

Whether or not humans usher in another Golden Age is uncertain. It is up to humanity to decide which path we will take. Whichever path we choose, the outcome will be determined by our individual consciousness, the choices we make and how this resonates within the collective.

The Great Forgetting is coming to a close.
